This statement followed a year of work on the programme since it was formally announced to Parliament on 25<sup>th<\/sup> February 2016 by Angela Constance, then Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning.<\/p>\n<p>The statement\u00a0and Q &amp; A session that followed can\u00a0be found in full <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parliament.scot\/parliamentarybusiness\/report.aspx?r=10818&amp;i=99109\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This statement coincided with the publication of two reports: the Scottish Government\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gov.scot\/ISBN\/9781786528278\"><em>Child Protection Improvement Programme Report<\/em><\/a> on its nine key areas of work and the Systems Review Reports <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gov.scot\/ISBN\/9781786528285\"><em>Protecting Scotland&#8217;s Children and Young People: It is Still Everyone&#8217;s Job<\/em><\/a> produced by its independent chair, Catherine Dyer.<\/p>\n<p>During the statement, Mr McDonald referenced these reports, outlined some of the key findings and recommendations contained as well as the steps that will be taken to implement these.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister for Childcare and Early Years, Mark McDonald MSP today addressed parliament on the Child Protection Improvement Programme.
