The Digital Support Hub: helping you create better digital services

The Digital Support Hub team based in the Scottish Government’s Digital Directorate blog about the new Digital Support Hub, a support and knowledge hub for building better digital services for the people of Scotland.

Bringing the public sector’s digital knowledge together

The Digital Support Hub was launched to support the Digital Strategy for Scotland – A changing nation: how Scotland will thrive in a digital world. The strategy explains why we need to rethink how we design and deliver digital services to meet the expectations of people in Scotland today.

The public sector in Scotland is large, so we launched the Hub as a way to navigate, learn about and access digital expertise regardless of where it sits within the Scottish Government and wider public sector. It will help you to find case studies, useful tools and support from across our organisations to help our colleagues find them more easily.

A new approach to digital support

The Digital Transformation Service has been active for a while and we are continually improving our offering to support the development of digital services across the public sector. Over time it became clear that, for some users, a self-help or request approach to guidance around how to develop high-quality services would be most helpful.

We have been constantly mindful of the digital strategy’s approach to collaboration and the benefits of sharing valuable information and expertise across organisations. Whether you are searching or browsing the hub to read our knowledge articles, or requesting help by raising a specific digital request, that knowledge can then be shared across Digital Service teams to join up our understanding and avoid duplicated effort.

We also saw potential in onboarding digital service teams into the hub, giving them their own space to publish expertise and accept service requests. This will further connect our digital service teams and encourage the sharing of expertise and knowledge. We will have more to share about service onboarding in due course.

 We’re always improving

We’re only just at the start of the Digital Support Hub journey. Users can now visit the hub and raise support requests, and they can also help us drive the future of the hub by using our feedback tools – which you can find on each knowledge article and after a support request is resolved.

With your feedback, we will continue to develop new hub features, new content and case studies to help others learn from how digital service projects have been run previously.

In our next blog, we will talk about how to use the Digital Support Hub, showcase some of the great support you can find there and dive a little deeper into how your feedback will shape our development moving forward.
