We blogged about our desire to understand aggregated statistics from the Scottish Government\u00a0web portfolio a few months ago &#8211; explaining that our initial focus is on core websites. So it&#8217;s great to be able to say that we\u00a0now have access to around 34 web properties out of all of the websites\u00a0within the web analytics initiative, which is hit rate of about\u00a012.7%. In addition, 180 of the websites we know about are considered\u00a0&#8216;core websites&#8217; \u00a0&#8211;\u00a0an area of knowledge we wish to grow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learnings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve\u00a0begun to spend time aggregating metrics for each website to build the &#8216;big picture&#8217;. This includes data from places like <a href=\"https:\/\/majestic.com\/\">Majestic SEO<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/analytics\/\">Google Analytics<\/a>. There is potential\u00a0to add our own metadata to group and classify websites as well, providing additional analysis potential, for example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Education<\/li>\n<li>Health<\/li>\n<li>Justice<\/li>\n<li>Environment<\/li>\n<li>Housing<\/li>\n<li>Local<\/li>\n<li>Tourism<\/li>\n<li>Transport<\/li>\n<li>Business<\/li>\n<li>Young People<\/li>\n<li>Culture &amp; Arts<\/li>\n<li>Other<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It&#8217;s rough right now, but we&#8217;re aiming to refine and improve this\u00a0in the coming months. In the future, this could allow us to produce\u00a0visualisations that highlight topics most linked to on the web.
