{"id":1522,"date":"2015-04-13T15:22:41","date_gmt":"2015-04-13T15:22:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/digital\/?p=1522"},"modified":"2018-02-19T17:18:20","modified_gmt":"2018-02-19T17:18:20","slug":"100-day-drive-progress-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/digital\/2015\/04\/13\/100-day-drive-progress-update\/","title":{"rendered":"100 day drive and progress update!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>This is a post by Scott McLear, our Communications Manager<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In February, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mygov.scot\/\"><span class=\"s2\">mygov.scot<\/span><\/a> programme team embarked on the beginning of an\u00a0ambitious 100 day drive to reinforce and communicate a clear vision of how we want to transform the Scottish public sector.\u00a0Central to this activity is\u00a0putting the user at the heart of everything we do and applying digital technology and thinking in a timely and creative way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>The 100 day drive\u00a0helps us:\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">deliver with\u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/inside.mygov.scot\/2015\/04\/01\/digitising-justice\/index.html\"><span class=\"s2\">Justice cluster<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0using user-centric research methods and beginning to build\u00a0upon our relationship<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">establish a more radical and dynamic approach to content, surfacing priority services\u00a0from across the public sector<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">establish partnerships and assessing opportunities for reuse<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">we\u2019re moving towards a Lean Kanban method for managing flow<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We\u2019re now half way through the\u00a0100 day drive.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1523 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/digital\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/07\/100-day-drive.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"642\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/digital\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/07\/100-day-drive.jpg 700w, https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/digital\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/07\/100-day-drive-300x275.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/digital\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/07\/100-day-drive-558x512.jpg 558w, https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/digital\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/07\/100-day-drive-458x420.jpg 458w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 700px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 700\/642;\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>At a more operational level, it will also encompass:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">running through our\u00a0user-need process<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">an increased focus on content\u00a0surfacing\u00a0priority services<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">a proactive and reactive approach to fact-checking and sign-off as separate activities<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">deeper, more meaningful stakeholder engagement<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">public availability of\u00a0the\u00a0beta (e.g. availability in Google)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">transitioning the legacy\u00a0alpha and DirectScot websites<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Progress update<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">So far we have focussed on improvements to the user experience and changes\u00a0to the backend. Most recently we have:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">on-site feedback on a content-item by content-item basis, allowing users to provide us with valuable\u00a0insight<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">enhancing the data fields stored about user-needs, helping to move us away from using spreadsheets<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">introduction of a new accordion content format to help us meet the needs of users <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mygov.scot\/managing-your-finances-if-youre-made-redundant\/\"><span class=\"s3\">who are having financial hardship<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">improvements to the publishing platform to ensure compatibility with Internet Explorer 8<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">updating the formulas used by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mygov.scot\/business-rates-calculator\/\"><span class=\"s3\">business rates calculator<\/span><\/a> in line with financial changes on the 1st of April<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">refining\u00a0the design of the site for mobile devices, geeking out about how the site looks on smaller screens all the way up to tablets<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">An early solution for surfacing <span class=\"s3\">local authority content through a lookup content format<\/span>\u00a0(paying council tax online)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Accessibility testing with users from Scottish Government, shedding light on how screen reading tools interact with our site. This will influence interface and design changes in the coming weeks<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Automated testing using Gatling \u2013 allowing for performance testing<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Automated provisioning using VMware using Puppet.
