Today marks\u00a0the end of our hackathon and overall the mood is pretty jubilant! The team has had fun and developed\u00a06 different and exciting\u00a0ideas:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Automated testing on Android \u2013 this allows testers to view a user journey though the site as part of the testing process.

    \n<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Rich<\/span>\u00a0nitro-boosted search \u2013 this gives us responsive search featuring maps, playable video, local authority phone numbers and deep links into sections within the site \u2013 all from search results. Edinburgh search results: Before

  3. 404 page \u2013 adding intelligent content to the 404 page based on mistyped URLs, providing people with relevant alternatives.

  4. OrientDB investigation \u2013 exploring the effect of using a graph\u00a0database system for the site as an alternative to our relational database (Postgres) and document database (Mongo). This, unintentionally, surfaced some interesting data visualisation opportunities to improve our information architecture.

  5. Testing using Nagios for infrastructure monitoring \u2013 overall feeling was that this wasn\u2019t as intensive to set up as first thought\u00a0and is an interesting alternative to our current setup.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Setting up an office timelapse \u2013 presenting an opportunity to use this\u00a0to track progress of stories\u00a0along the Kanban board\u2026 but for today it mostly captured the comings and goings of the office.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
