This time our big goal is to move mygov.scot into a \u201clive service\u201d over the\u00a0next 100 days \u2013 which means a lot of work ahead for our team!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>100 day drive workstreams<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">One key area of activity is to continue <b>building the right product<\/b> for our citizens. The 5\u00a0areas of activity are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol class=\"ol1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Justice content (cluster approach)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">gov.scot migration<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">High-demand content (start-up approach)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Business Portal content<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Platform refinement<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In parallel to building the right product, we need to continue <b>improving how we work and how we build and deliver products<\/b>. We need to continue learning from our experiences so far delivering user journeys, but also start focusing on enabling our colleagues to continue in a more autonomous fashion.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Establish a better understanding of the journey ahead<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Identify and deliver the next user journeys<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Initiate the knowledge transfer to justice through trailing our academy approach<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Evolve along the product roadmap maturity phases: from build to enhance to enable<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Gov.scot migration\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We are partnering with Digital Communications to start the work on a\u00a0new\u00a0gov.scot website, using the mygov.scot publishing platform. It is going to give us a huge opportunity to evolve and mature our platform as well as\u00a0working\u00a0closely with a core group in the Scottish Government family.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Setup initial platform environment<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Begin developing content for the first target directorate<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Agree corporate (gov.scot) vs. mainstream (mygov.scot) content fitness<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>High-demand content (start-up approach)<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Continue to add\u00a0high-demand content (e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mygov.scot\/apply-for-or-renew-a-disabled-parking-permit-blue-badge\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Blue Badge<\/span><\/a>) that is fundamental to our\u00a0success and is seen as valuable to a\u00a0large\u00a0proportion\u00a0of users. Our new performance team\u00a0is doing lots of great work to help us succeed in this area.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Identify and visualise data-driven prioritised content areas<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Respond to ad-hoc, high-impact internal demand. New opportunities to establish a successful narrative and increased reputation<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Establish citizen-focused quantitative KPIs to communicate progress<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Complete a new iteration of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mygov.scot\/organisations\/\"><span class=\"s2\">organisation hub pages<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Business Portal content<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Complete the migration of the existing Business Portal, as it is increasingly out of date and supports\u00a0the need for\u00a0the correct information to be made available through mygov.scot.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Complete migration of duplicate, devolved\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gov.uk\/\"><span class=\"s2\">GOV.UK<\/span><\/a>\u00a0content<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Request the decommissioning of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.business.scotland.gov.uk\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Business Portal<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Align the migrated content to our content strategy<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Review fitness for purpose for business users<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Platform refinement<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The addition of the gov.scot project is moving our platform\u00a0to a multi-website product. This will require\u00a0us to evolve and refine our current platform so that it can support the needs of the new website. Lots of\u00a0behind-the-scenes work will be needed in this space.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Release the platform as open source software<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Support a multi-site environment (e.g. mygov.scot and gov.scot)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Improve the overall user experience for content designers<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Improve our search functionality<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Produce work-in-progress dashboards<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Programme review<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The mygov.scot programme of work\u00a0has been going on for almost two years. As part of our belief in transparency and openness we are going to complete a comprehensive\u00a0review of the programme; this is not just good practice in Programme Management, but something we believe we must complete to ensure the programme incorporates all the learnings we have made\u00a0since its\u00a0inception.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Review our vision<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Review our business case, reaffirm its validity and reassess our benefit realisation<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Complete an independent review of our platform and reaffirm its fitness for purpose<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Review the fitness of purpose of STARS<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Establish a content strategy<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Complete a review of our existing content<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Complete a review of our approach to information architecture<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Live operation<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Moving the\u00a0mygov.scot website to be a live service means that we need to increase the level of, amongst other things, the support and availability delivered. In the next 100-days we need to put in place all the missing bits to run a successful live\u00a0service.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Identify the levels for live operation support and possible existing service providers within Scottish Government<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Evaluate appropriate options to service our support levels<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Establish a roll-out plan for live launch (technical, policy, communications, etc.)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Feedback mechanisms<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Our product is available in beta and we are learning lots from what our user researchers and our performance\u00a0team\u00a0are doing. We need to continue improving and expanding on this area to ensure we deliver a quality\u00a0service.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Complete and communicate the delivery of retrospective actions<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Establish a robust process linking the findings from user research sessions to our horizon boards<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Introduce new direct citizen feedback mechanism<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Expand our performance analysis<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Evolve our search engine optimisation approach<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Create website dashboards<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Establish citizen-focused, qualitative KPIs supporting our benefits realisation<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Ways of working<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Our team is learning every day and we need to continue improving what we do. We have been using agile methods since the beginning\u00a0and during the previous 100-days we adopted\u00a0Lean Kanban to our management and delivery activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Complete a lean management education programme<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Evolve our team structure<\/span>\n<ul class=\"ul2\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Secure team stability<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Recruit\u00a0additional roles (content designers)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Identify and agree Service Level Expectations (SLE) between workstreams<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Obtain lean-based system performance metrics (lead time, flow efficiency, etc.), moving us one step closer towards probabilistic planning and forecasting<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In conclusion, we\u00a0are going to be pretty busy until mid-September.
