It\u2019s been a busy start to 2018 for the online identity assurance team. Thank you for all your initial feedback on our first blog. We value the input of everyone with an interest in this work.<\/p>\n

So what\u2019s been happening?<\/p>\n

As mentioned in our project plan, we are now well into the first phase of our project, where we are exploring in detail the challenge facing us in developing an online identity approach. Key to this phase is understanding the experiences and concerns of people who use these services. Following a short procurement exercise, we have appointed We Are Snook<\/a> to help us engage with people who use services and gather research that will guide the direction of our work.<\/p>\n

In January, an early milestone was met through the first meeting of the project\u2019s Programme Board. The Programme Board sees representatives from across Scottish Government and local government, with responsibility for providing project governance, joined by the members of our project team to oversee progress on a quarterly basis. We were also pleased to be joined by Ken Macdonald from the Information Commissioner\u2019s Office and Ruchir Shah from the Scottish Council of Voluntary Organisations, who have joined the Board to offer their input on identity assurance on an advisory basis. The first meeting was extremely positive and benefited from the input of Ken and Ruchir\u2019s external voices.<\/p>\n

Next up is the first meeting of the national stakeholder group<\/a> in Edinburgh on Thursday 08 February. It is intended this group will bring together parties from a range of sectors and interests and that members will be actively involved in discussing the programme, setting direction and priorities, and considering options and wider impacts of the work.<\/p>\n

A range of guests representing key interest groups have already been invited, but all of our stakeholder group meetings will be open to members of the public who wish to come along, participate or simply observe. A limited number of places can be booked via this Eventbrite link<\/a>.<\/p>\n
