Organisations involved in digital identity are now being invited to get involved with the forthcoming Alpha phase of the Online Identity Assurance project.<\/p>\n

As we highlighted in our last blog<\/a>, we have joined the non-profit collaborative Open Identity Exchange<\/a> (OIX) in order to gain greater exposure to people and organisations with interest in issues around identity.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday (28 August), our team was delighted to host a roundtable for 30 people drawn from OIX member organisations, including service providers, technical specialists and public sector interests.<\/p>\n

Mike Crockart, Delivery Lead from our Online Identity Assurance team, and Steve Pannifer<\/a>, a consultant from Consult Hyperion, led an overview of the research we have conducted so far, along with a more detailed vision for our Alpha phase. The slides for this presentation can be accessed here<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Our vision for Alpha is for it to be a \u2018proof of concept\u2019 stage, where a prototype solution is developed and tested. We intend to run this from October 2018 to March 2019, following completion of an internal assessment to ensure our work is meeting a series of digital public service standards.<\/p>\n

A notice seeking interest from organisations who would be interested in working with us to test ideas in the Alpha phase has now been issued, for return by midday on Tuesday 04 September. The invitation to collaborate with ourselves and others in the Alpha phase is open to all organisations with working knowledge of issues around digital identity \u2013 not just OIX members.<\/p>\n

As Mike explained at the roundtable:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis model, facilitated by OIX, creates conditions for collaborative working that will help us better understand the long-term challenges associated with developing a \u2018common approach\u2019 to identity assurance and test some prototypes for how those challenges can be overcome.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want those with experience and expertise in digital identity including those in the UK Government and the current myaccount offering to local authorities, to work with us during our Alpha to ensure we learn from and incorporate current offerings in digital identity. This collaboration is key to producing a solution which can truly be regarded as a \u2018common approach\u2019 for Scottish public services.\u201d<\/p>\n
