The recent conclusion of our Alpha phase<\/a> is the culmination of several months\u2019 work to understand and test some specific ideas related to digital identity in more detail.<\/p>\n

We are grateful to all stakeholders who have assisted us in this important phase of the digital identity programme.<\/p>\n

So what have we learned and what are the ways forward from here?<\/p>\n

The answers to those are set out in a white paper<\/a>, published today by the Online Identity Exchange (you can read more about our OIX collaboration here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

This report documents the key findings of Alpha which considered:
\n\u2022 The needs of individuals – the people of Scotland – who wish to access digital public services in Scotland
\n\u2022 The needs of relying parties – the digital public services provided to individuals
\n\u2022 Technical interoperability of identity services in the market
\n\u2022 The role of identity assurance standards in ensuring equivalence across service providers.<\/p>\n

The paper also sets out a range of other technical information, including practical, short term actions that could support government services in the near future.<\/p>\n

We hope it will contribute to the successful development of a vibrant digital identity industry in Scotland, the UK and further afield.<\/p>\n

The paper has been discussed by our Expert Group and Programme Board, and we will say more in the very near future about how it will support our future plans for the programme.<\/p>\n
