Since its inception in 2013, more than 270 public service leaders have participated in the Scottish Government\u2019s Digital Champions Programme. The programme has been designed to give leaders the knowledge, skills and confidence to champion digital within their organisations and encourage innovative use of digital tools and technology across public services in Scotland.
\nReflecting the needs of the public sector, this programme inspires public sector leaders to realise the transformational potential of digital, realise our national outcomes and achieve Scotland\u2019s Purpose. Our most recent feedback showed that 85% of delegates agreed that participating in Digital Champions had helped them to transform services, encourage different thinking and be more innovative.<\/p>\n
Those that will benefit most from taking part in the programme are likely to be working at Chief Executive or Director level. Your nominations must be sponsored by your senior lead such as Chief Executive or equivalent. In line with the Scottish Leaders Forum\u2019s focus on succession planning, we are seeking nominations for those who will most benefit from the knowledge, inspiration and peer group support that the Digital Champions Programme provides, and support the prioritisation of digital transformation across Scotland.<\/p>\n
The Programme has been prepared and delivered in partnership with Leading Edge Forum and ScotlandIS and will be opened by Ms Forbes, Minister for Public Finance and Digital Economy. There will be a range of speakers from Scottish Government, Young Scot, The Data Lab and other organisations. Below are some of the subjects the programme will cover.<\/p>\n
\u2022 IT modernisation and business transformation<\/strong>: David Reid, Programme Director for the Leading Edge Forum will share insights on current and future drivers of change.<\/p>\n \u2022 Artificial Intelligence in the public sector<\/strong>: How can you and your organisation benefit from the potential that AI can bring? Learn about strategy development, organisational capability development as well as what funding is available to you.<\/p>\n \u2022 Scottish approach to service design<\/strong>: Cat Macaulay, Chief Design Officer for Scottish Government will lead an interactive session on designing services with users not for users.<\/p>\n \u2022 Digital participation<\/strong>: How to engage people with digital and gain an understanding of the rights of citizens.<\/p>\n \u2022 Better use of data<\/strong>: Roger Halliday, the Chief Data Officer for Scottish Government together with The Data Lab will demonstrate the opportunities presented by better data management.<\/p>\n \u2022 Clouding your judgement<\/strong>: Overcoming the challenges of moving to cloud computing and realising the benefits that it can bring.<\/p>\n \u2022 CivTech\u00ae<\/strong>: Learn how to solve public sector challenges with innovative solutions.<\/p>\n \u2022 Developing an approach to digital ethics<\/strong>: Helping you to understand and develop strategies for the key ethical questions you will need to address, now and in the future as automated decision-making systems become ever more ubiquitous.<\/p>\n In addition, attending the programme will give you an opportunity learn from other public service leaders, share good practice and develop a better understanding of digital opportunities and challenges facing your peers. Previous participants have identified the value of the programme in facilitating discussion and building networks.<\/p>\n There are no fees associated with taking part in the programme. Attendees will be expected to meet the costs of travel to and from meeting venues and any overnight stays if necessary.<\/p>\n Nominations are open until 20 December 2019.
