Scottish Government\u2019s Digital Data and Technology Profession (DDaT) is one year old.\u00a0 Over 650 people across Scottish Government and associated bodies are part of the DDaT profession, one with circa 17,000 people across all UK government bodies.<\/p>\n

Why does this matter to you? Well, the Digital, Data and Technology Profession builds and manages services that positively affect the lives of millions of people.<\/p>\n

Progress so far marks a key milestone in a pipeline of skilled, creative and talented people that can meet workforce needs for now and for the future. Yorath Turner, Head of Digital Capability and Talent, gives more details:<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing part of the DDaT profession and community can be personally rewarding and is a career choice that doesn\u2019t hinge on being a tech or \u2018digital\u2019 expert.<\/p>\n

It is about people and skills include everything from IT operations, cyber security, user centred design, digital programme management, assurance, and testing. By getting involved and working with teams we understand and respond to the barriers and actively encourage people from across the public sector and beyond to take up professional roles in digital.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nicole Winters is one of those who had their interest sparked:<\/p>\n

\u201cPreviously I was a Modern Apprentice doing an SVQ Level 2 in Administration. I became interested in Business Analysis when I shadowed my fellow colleagues within the Digital Directorate, working in multidisciplinary teams I knew I would gain not only experience but also continuous development as a BA, under the framework of the DDAT profession.<\/p>\n

Now as a digital, data and technology specialist I work at the forefront of how people interact with government. I work in collaborative teams on a range of projects and services that focus on user needs and deliver real value.\u201d<\/p>\n

Supporting people as they develop is the Digital Data and Technology <\/strong>capability framework supported by the Scottish Digital Academy<\/strong><\/a>. This applies consistency across all digital job roles so people have the right skills, at the right levels, no matter where in government they are being recruited to. It also gives people clear development and progression pathways, which help us to attract, and keep, the people and skills we need across government and in the wider public sector.<\/p>\n
