{"id":1036,"date":"2022-12-16T12:26:15","date_gmt":"2022-12-16T12:26:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/european-structural-and-investment-funds\/?p=1036"},"modified":"2022-12-19T18:07:49","modified_gmt":"2022-12-19T18:07:49","slug":"2022-case-studies-booklet-and-ministerial-visit-to-mdmc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/european-structural-and-investment-funds\/2022\/12\/16\/2022-case-studies-booklet-and-ministerial-visit-to-mdmc\/","title":{"rendered":"2022 case studies booklet and Ministerial visit to MDMC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday 15 December, Richard Lochhead, Minister for Just Transition, Employment and Fair Work, visited the Medical Device Manufacturing Centre (MDMC) at Heriot-Watt University\u2019s Edinburgh campus to celebrate the publication of the European Social Fund (ESF) and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/publications\/european-structural-investment-funds-programmes-scotland-2022-case-studies-booklet\/\">2022 case studies booklet<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The \u00a33.1m centre is jointly funded by the ERDF via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottish-enterprise.com\/support-for-businesses\/develop-products-and-services\/innovation-support\/advancing-manufacturing-challenge-fund\">Scottish Enterprise&#8217;s Advancing Manufacturing Challenge Fund<\/a>, the Edinburgh &amp; South East Scotland City Region Deal, and\u00a0 Heriot-Watt, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Robert Gordon universities. It provides medical device developers and manufacturers with the advice, technical expertise and facilities essential for companies that are seeking to translate medical device concepts to commercial products.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister&#8217;s visit to the MDMC was publicised in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hw.ac.uk\/news\/articles\/2022\/minister-visits-medical-device-manufacturing.htm\">news section of Heriot-Watt University&#8217;s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The MDMC features in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/publications\/european-structural-investment-funds-programmes-scotland-2022-case-studies-booklet\/\">2022 case studies booklet<\/a> alongside other strong examples of ESF and ERDF support, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the construction of a &#8216;smart canal&#8217; in north Glasgow<\/li>\n<li>a consortium of third-sector employability providers in Moray<\/li>\n<li>a West Lothian project that supports women who have become involved in the criminal justice system<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can read the <a
