On Wednesday 5 October 2016 Angela Constance, Cabinet Secretary for Communities, Social Security and Equalities launched the Fairer Scotland Action Plan at the Princes Trust in Glasgow.

The plan is a clear commitment to the people of Scotland that we are taking long term action to change our society and make it a fairer and more equal place to live.

Throughout the plan there are pledges from organisation who are committed to help us deliver on the recommendations set out in the plan. Organisations include:

  • Carnegie Trust UK
  • Dundee Partnership
  • Inclusion Scotland
  • Joseph Rowntree Foundation
  • Lloyds TSB Foundation Scotland
  • NHS Health Scotland
  • The Poverty Truth Commission
  • Princes Trust Scotland
  • Timewise and Family Friendly Working Scotland
  • Virgin Money
  • Working Families
  • Young Scot
  • Youthlink

Since the launch we have been approached by other organisations who have pledged a commitment to also help deliver on the recommendations set out in the plan. For example,

SPAEN have pledged to, “to support, inform and equip disabled people to make full use of all supports; services and opportunities available to them to live independent and fulfilling lives at home, at work and in the community allowing them to realise their full potential.

This pledge includes working with disabled people to create greater opportunities for social integration and participation through our Peace of Mind programme.”

You don’t have to be an organisation to make a pledge you can be a community who want to help make a difference. If you would like to make a pledge please email us at Fairer@gov.scot.
