First Minister Announces Indicative Dates For Restrictions Easing In Phases 2 And 3
Last Wednesday (24 June) The First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced when further changes to lockdown restrictions might take effect for the remainder of Phase 2 and early Phase 3. The Scottish Government’s route map – indicative dates for the remainder of Phase 2 and early Phase 3 was published to coincide with the First Minister’s announcement.
Funeral service restrictions are unlikely to be eased before 23 July, alongside marriages and civil partnerships, though this will of course be kept under review. When changes do ease, physical distancing requirements and cleaning and other hygiene requirements will still remain firmly in place.
Until funeral restrictions are eased, the current Health Protection (Coronavirus) (Restrictions) (Scotland) Regulations 2020 rules continue to apply. That is, permitting an individual to attend a funeral if they are:
- A household member of the person who has died;
- a close family member of the person who has died;
- if no-one in the above two categories is attending, a friend of the person who has died.
We will continue to update our funeral industry guidance documents as we move through the route map phases and we will alert you to major changes.
The guidance is available here, under the heading: “Funerals, burial and cremation”. Please always check back at this source for the latest versions.
