{"id":611,"date":"2021-12-10T17:39:19","date_gmt":"2021-12-10T17:39:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/funeral-industry\/?p=611"},"modified":"2021-12-10T17:39:19","modified_gmt":"2021-12-10T17:39:19","slug":"first-minister-announces-changes-to-the-rules-on-self-isolation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/funeral-industry\/2021\/12\/10\/first-minister-announces-changes-to-the-rules-on-self-isolation\/","title":{"rendered":"First Minister announces changes to the rules on self-isolation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, 10 December 2021, the First Minister of Scotland announced changes to the self-isolation rules for household contacts of Covid-19 cases.<\/p>\n<p>Household contacts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From 11 December 2021, if you\u2019re identified as a household contact of a positive COVID-19 case, you will be advised to self-isolate for 10 days irrespective of vaccination status, PCR test result and age.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Non-household close contacts can continue to follow existing self-isolation rules:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you are a partially or non-vaccinated adult, you will be asked to self-isolate for 10 days, whether or not you have symptoms.<\/li>\n<li>If you are a fully-vaccinated adult, provided you return a negative PCR test results and remain asymptomatic, you may end self-isolation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Detailed guidance on self-isolation can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/publications\/coronavirus-covid-19-test-and-protect\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>These changes are in response to the very significant risks posed by Omicron.\u00a0 The Scottish Government has published an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/publications\/omicron-scotland-evidence-paper\/\">evidence paper<\/a> which seeks to provide more detail about the Omicron variant in Scotland at this time.<\/p>\n<p>The First Minister\u2019s speech can be read in full <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/publications\/coronavirus-covid-19-update-first-ministers-speech-10-december-2021\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the changes to self-isolation, the First Minister re-stated the need for everyone to strengthen compliance with existing protections including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Getting vaccinated \u2013 first, second, third or booster dose \u2013 is the single best thing everyone can do.<\/li>\n<li>Regular testing, particularly if you\u2019re socialising or mixing with other households.<\/li>\n<li>Wearing face coverings in all indoor public spaces, keeping windows open when meeting people indoors and following all of the advice on hand hygiene and cleaning surfaces.<\/li>\n<li>Working from home if you can.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today, 10 December 2021, the First Minister of Scotland announced changes to the self-isolation rules for household contacts of Covid-19 cases.
