The proposed regulations in the consultations are to be made under the Burial and Cremation (Scotland) Act 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The collection of four consultations cover regulations on the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alkaline hydrolysis (\u2018water cremation\u2019)<\/li>\n<li>Burial<\/li>\n<li>Inspection of burial authorities, cremation authorities and funeral directors<\/li>\n<li>Licensing for funeral directors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The consultations are all available on the Scottish Government\u2019s consultation hub, <a href=\"https:\/\/consult.gov.scot\/burial-cremation\/consultation-collection\/\">Citizen Space<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The consultations will be live from <strong>25 August\u00a0 &#8211; 17 November 2023<\/strong>. We strongly encourage members of the public and the funeral sector to respond to the consultations. Responses will help shape our next steps.<\/p>\n<p>We plan to run public engagement events while the consultations are live, if there is sufficient public interest, to give people the opportunity to discuss the consultations and ask questions. We&#8217;ll update <a href=\"https:\/\/consult.gov.scot\/burial-cremation\/consultation-collection\/\">this page<\/a> with details of events as they are planned.
