{"id":775,"date":"2025-01-16T14:15:03","date_gmt":"2025-01-16T14:15:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/funeral-industry\/?p=775"},"modified":"2025-01-16T14:20:15","modified_gmt":"2025-01-16T14:20:15","slug":"775","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/funeral-industry\/2025\/01\/16\/775\/","title":{"rendered":"Regulations For Burial and Inspection Approved by The Scottish Parliament"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Regulations For Burial and Inspection Approved by The Scottish Parliament <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Burial (Management) (Scotland) Regulations 2025 and the Burial and Cremation (Inspection) (Scotland) Regulations 2025 were approved by the Scottish Parliament on 8 January 2025.<\/p>\n<p>These regulations will come into force on 1 March 2025, at the same time as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Funeral Director Code of Practice<\/li>\n<li>The Burial and Cremation (Scotland) Act 2016 (Commencement no. 6) Regulations 2024 (\u201cthe Commencement Regulations\u201d)<\/li>\n<li>The Burial (Applications and Register) (Scotland) Regulations 2024 (\u201cthe Applications and Register Regulations\u201d)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For an overview of what the regulations do, please read our <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/funeral-industry\/2024\/11\/15\/scottish-government-introduces-new-regulations-under-the-burial-and-cremation-scotland-act-2016\/\">blog post<\/a> from 15<sup>th<\/sup> November 2024.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications for burial<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Scottish Government will implement new burial application forms, which must be used for all applications submitted from the start of business on 1<sup>st<\/sup> March 2025 and from then on.
