The\u00a0first National Care Service Forum was held on Monday 3rd October. The theme of the Forum was \u201cworking together\u201d and this was captured in the collaborative discussions and speeches that took place throughout the day.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Over 300 people joined us in-person and a further 300 people joined online. Hundreds of people of people shared their experience and ideas throughout the day. There was lots of discussion about how the National Care Service should look and how people could get involved.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We are still digesting all of the detailed feedback and will share a summary soon in a formal report.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On the day of the Forum a number of speakers took to the stage. Kevin Stewart MSP, Minister for Mental Wellbeing and Social Care opened the day and discussed the need for change. We were delighted to welcome artist, filmmaker, and activist Kiana Kalantar-<\/span> Hormozi who discussed her lived experience and what we need to see from the National Care Service. Minister for Drugs Policy, Angela Constance MSP, talked about how the National Care Service will ensure holistic care is provided to those who need it, and how human rights will be at the very core of the NCS. She also outlined opportunities for people to get involved in designing the NCS. This is essential for creating services that work, as we\u2019ve seen from Social Security Scotland and work happening on drugs policy. Humza Yousaf MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, closed the day and considered the future of the National Care Service and how people\u2019s lived and living experience will be at the heart of it. A huge thanks once again to both the speakers and attendees for participating in the National Care Service Forum 2022. It is vital that the NCS is designed together with the people who receive and deliver care support. The Forum will be an important annual event and we\u2019re already looking forward to next year\u2019s. We\u2019ve certainly learnt a lot this year to build on in future.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
