Since summer 2014 the Royal College of Nursing <\/a>(RCN)\u00a0has been running a successful government-funded programme to support nurse leaders through the transition to integration. As part of the project, we were asked to develop a national conference to bring together leaders from across the regulated health and care professions.<\/p>\n

We jumped at the chance to play our part in supporting better working between the professions and are delighted to have buy in to the event from across nursing, social work, pharmacy, AHPs, medicine and the Scottish Government.\u00a0 It\u2019s great to have the\u00a0Rt Hon Henry McLeish<\/a> chairing the event too.<\/p>\n

Holding this event right at the point the legislation comes into force is deliberate.\u00a0 After all the negotiations on integration schemes have finished, and as new structures take shape, there will be all sorts of hot issues for the professions \u2013 those things that you just can\u2019t legislate for, but which need to be addressed for integration to work. This isn\u2019t intended to be an event which explains the policy or legislation to participants, but a day that will give space to the practicalities of delivering quality integrated care.<\/p>\n

We will reflect back to Scottish Government and partnerships the issues and ideas that delegates bring to the event.<\/p>\n
