It is clear that by joining up the work of Health Boards and Local Authorities, patients will have smoother journeys through care, and that this will lead ultimately to better personal, local and national outcomes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mceTemp mceIEcenter\" style=\"text-align: left\">We believe that collaboration is also at the heart of our own, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsnss.org\/pages\/corporate\/about_us.php\" target=\"_blank\">National Services Scotland<\/a> (NSS) response to the integration agenda \u2013 driving our functions to work closely, innovatively, together \u2013 to in turn provide solutions to the challenges our partners face:<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp mceIEcenter\" style=\"text-align: left\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Driving prioritisation through Information Management: <\/strong>Successful outcomes depend on a clear focus, driven by accurate data. Sourcing, linking and interpreting data is key to enabling\u00a0partnerships to concentrate on developing their Strategic Commissioning Plans. Boards also need data to understand how people actually use local services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Managing quality and pace: <\/strong>One of the risks of the process of collaboration is that of introspection and a lack of pace. Deadlines are demanding \u2013 effective project management is essential.\u00a0 Often assurance is required to provide comfort that the programmes of the Joint Boards are fit for purpose. \u00a0Acquiring local capability may be challenging and these gaps need filled.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><\/strong><strong>Connecting IT:<\/strong> Collaboration can be particularly tricky when it comes to technology \u2013 uniting IT infrastructure with a lack of common standards and systems is complex.\u00a0 Investigative analysis of the infrastructure and building IT capability,supports and facilitates the needs of Joint Boards in Health and Social Care Information Sharing and assists in meeting the ambitions of government\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gov.scot\/Topics\/Economy\/digital\" target=\"_blank\">Digital Future<\/a> plans.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/integrating-reshaping-care\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/03\/Matthew-Neilson-2014-10-New.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These are all areas where NSS can support partners through the integration process.\u00a0 With Scottish Borders for example, our IT experts are providing support to the development of strategic plans for the Joint Board, and through our information management propositions, we\u2019re exploring information sharing solutions to some of the challenges the board will face when delivering these plans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Getting into the spirit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>NSS are embracing the collaborative approach \u2013 after all, we only exist to work closely with our partners to deliver benefits to the people of Scotland. And the more we do this, the more learning and efficiencies we can achieve together.
