{"id":10233,"date":"2019-09-27T14:30:07","date_gmt":"2019-09-27T13:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/?p=10233"},"modified":"2023-08-25T17:19:10","modified_gmt":"2023-08-25T16:19:10","slug":"a-splash-of-colour-at-the-marine-lab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/2019\/09\/27\/a-splash-of-colour-at-the-marine-lab\/","title":{"rendered":"A Splash of Colour at the Marine Lab"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you go down to Torry today you\u2019re sure to find not one but four big surprises \u2026<\/p>\n<p>Marine Scotland Science (MSS) has partnered with local group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/VictoriArtRoad\/\">VictoriArt Road<\/a> to host one of four giant murals on an external wall at the Marine Laboratory in Aberdeen.<\/p>\n<p>As part of a regeneration project Dundee based artist Isla Valentine Wade has been commissioned to decorate the large, blank wall which will form part of an art walk through the historic Torry district.<\/p>\n<p>VictoriArt Road hopes to inspire and involve local people and improve physical and mental health. The aim of the project is to contribute to the regeneration of Victoria Road and Torry by using \u201ccreative urban interventions as a vehicle for social and spatial change\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Tim McDonnell, Head of MSS, commented: \u201cI was approached by the VictoriArt Road group and was only too delighted to assist with this project.
