{"id":1040,"date":"2013-11-05T13:16:26","date_gmt":"2013-11-05T13:16:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.scotland.gov.uk\/coastal-monitoring\/?p=1040"},"modified":"2019-04-04T09:12:33","modified_gmt":"2019-04-04T08:12:33","slug":"seweb-goes-interactive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/2013\/11\/05\/seweb-goes-interactive\/","title":{"rendered":"SEWeb goes interactive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Scotland&#8217;s Environment website provides a one-stop-shop to help users find and access the extensive range of information and data that is currently spread across multiple organisations and many different web sites.<\/p>\n<p>This new web page encourages the user to Get Interactive with different environmental data sets through a range of viewing, analysis and visualisation tools, maps, games and other resources.<\/p>\n<p>Key features of the new page include:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Map View<\/strong> &#8211; we now have 165 map layers, published by 10 different organisations. No where else can users view any combination of map data in the one place. Scotland&#8217;s Environment Map View draws on publicly available Web Map Services so what users see is the most up-to-date map data that is currently available. We are encouraging users and partners to let us know about any other data sets they think would be useful for Scotland&#8217;s Environment Map View &#8211; fill out a form\u00a0and send it to <a title=\"\" href=\"mailto:seweb.administrator@sepa.org.uk\">seweb.administrator@sepa.org.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Discover Data<\/strong> &#8211; Scotland&#8217;s Environment Web is developing a range of new tools to view, analyse and interact with the most up-to-date published data from different sources. Discover Data is the place where you can find new data applications for Scottish Household Waste and Water Classification. In the development pipeline we have tools to interact with Scottish Climate Projections and Bathing Waters. We will update you with release dates for new data visualise applications, and are encouraging users an partners to let us know about any ideas for new apps &#8211; fill out a form and send it to <a title=\"\" href=\"mailto:seweb.administrator@sepa.org.uk\">seweb.administrator@sepa.org.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The new <strong>Resources<\/strong> section will save users time in searching the web for useful environmental data tools, providing a one-stop-shop to recommended data resources produced by different organisations. If any users or partners you come across any useful data tools that other Scotland&#8217;s Environment web site users would find interesting, contact the <a title=\"\" href=\"mailto:seweb.administrator@sepa.org.uk\">seweb.administrator@sepa.org.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finding out about the environment can be fun &#8211; Scotland&#8217;s Environment Web have a list of some recommended <strong>Environmental Games<\/strong>. Please let us know of any others that we can share <a title=\"\" href=\"mailto:seweb.administrator@sepa.org.uk\">seweb.administrator@sepa.org.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We also have the post code search in <strong>What&#8217;s In My Area<\/strong> map layers to help users find local data ranging from air quality to listed buildings and conservation sites.<\/p>\n<p>And to follow soon on this new Get Interactive page is the <em>Land Information Search<\/em> &#8211; a new map based tool that will facilitate the search for pre-defined datasets that must be taken into account when applying for Rural Development Contracts and\/or Felling licences. This tool will be updating the Land Information Search that is currently on the Forestry Commission Scotland website.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>*GLOW meet on Wednesday 6th November*<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Education Scotland is running a GLOW meet for schools\u00a0tomorrow morning (Wednesday 6 November), providing an opportunity for hundreds of schools to come together for an hour-long debate using web technology.<\/p>\n<p>Participating schools will be listening\u00a0and talking to a panel of\u00a0experts about environmental issues that are important to\u00a0them in\u00a0their local area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Follow the live updates on the GLOW meet discussion on twitter <\/strong><strong>#ScotlandsEnvironment<\/strong><strong> from 10am<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Scotland&#8217;s Environment website provides a one-stop-shop to help users find and access the extensive range of information and data that is currently spread across multiple organisations and many different web sites.
