{"id":11138,"date":"2020-05-29T09:01:59","date_gmt":"2020-05-29T08:01:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/?p=11138"},"modified":"2020-06-25T11:05:48","modified_gmt":"2020-06-25T10:05:48","slug":"angling-restrictions-eased","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/2020\/05\/29\/angling-restrictions-eased\/","title":{"rendered":"Angling restrictions eased"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 29 May the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that people can go fishing on their own or with a member of their household in their local areas, as long as they adhere to physical distancing measures. The announcement was part of the phase 1 easing of lockdown restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>In phase 2 we can continue to enjoy the outdoors and nature in our local area. Whether people are outside for leisure, exercise or work, it&#8217;s important that everyone continues to comply with all hygiene requirements.<\/p>\n<p>You must continue to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure physical distancing is in place by staying at least 2 metres away from other people<\/li>\n<li>Wash or sanitise hands thoroughly and regularly<\/li>\n<li>Ensure cough etiquette is maintained<\/li>\n<li>Wear face coverings in enclosed spaces<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Of course people want to make the most of the beautiful country that we live in, but if you travel for exercise and leisure you should stay within the local area and within five miles of home. Try to travel by foot or bike and limit the distance you travel as much as possible \u2013 it\u2019s good for you, your community and for the environment.<\/p>\n<p>Further information about the key changes in Phase 2 can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/publications\/coronavirus-covid-19-framework-decision-making-scotlands-route-map-through-out-crisis-phase-2-update\/pages\/8\/\">Scottish Government website.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>With the move to phase 2 of the relaxation of restrictions the Scottish Government and sportscotland have approved <a href=\"https:\/\/sportscotland.org.uk\/covid-19\/latest-outdoor-sport-and-physical-activity-guidance\/\">new guidance<\/a> from Angling Scotland which will allow a return to competitive angling.<\/p>\n<p>Competitions should be restricted to 25 participants, with staggered arrival and departure times, and should only be undertaken locally and informally.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/fms.scot\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/200527-Guidance-Note-4-Coronavirus-COVID-19-Resumption-of-angling.pdf\">Fisheries Management Scotland<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.anglingscotland.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/ASL-Covid-Guidelines-Phase-v1.6.pdf\">Angling Scotland\u00a0<\/a>have established guidance to help anglers ensure a safe environment for themselves and all on-site staff.<\/p>\n<p>The easing of lockdown restrictions allows us to work in and enjoy the outdoors more.
