Assessing the environmental status of selected North Atlantic deep-sea ecosystems, <em>Ecological Indicators<\/em>.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>This study was conducted as part of the four-year EU H2020 ATLAS project to assess the effectiveness of the open-access Nested Environmental status Assessment Tool (NEAT) to assess deep-sea environmental status. It considered nine selected study areas in the North Atlantic focusing on five Marine Strategy Framework Directive descriptors (D1-Biodiversity, D3-Commercial fish and shellfish, D4-Food webs, D6-Seafloor integrity, D10-Marine litter). A case study reporting the occurrence of amoebic gill disease in a public marine aquarium. <em>Bulletin of the European Association of Fish Pathologists.<br \/>\n<\/em>During a routine veterinary visit to the Macduff Aquarium, two Atlantic salmon and a corkwing wrasse demonstrated clinical signs of amoebic gill disease (AGD), a condition caused by the parasite <em>Neoparamoeba perurans<\/em>. In addition, the amoeba\u00a0was also detected for the first time in small spotted catshark, cuckoo wrasse, grey\u00a0gurnard and red mullet.
