MESMA was a 4-year EU project worth of \u20ac 8.5m. MESMA\u2019s objective was to develop integrated management tools (concepts, models and guidelines) for monitoring, evaluation and implementation of spatially managed areas.<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2013\/12\/MESMA4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1228 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2013\/12\/MESMA4-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/200;\" \/><\/a>21 project partners from 13 countries and 9 case studies covered all marine areas of EU seas, with one case study focusing on the Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters Marine Spatial Plan (MSP).
