{"id":11640,"date":"2022-12-07T10:00:50","date_gmt":"2022-12-07T10:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/?p=11640"},"modified":"2022-12-07T14:08:14","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T14:08:14","slug":"scottish-marine-energy-research-symposium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/2022\/12\/07\/scottish-marine-energy-research-symposium\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottish Marine Energy Research Symposium 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Registration is now open for the upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/hopin.com\/events\/5th-scotmer-symposium\">Scottish Marine Energy Research (ScotMER) Symposium<\/a>, which will run for three days from 31 January 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The fifth annual symposium, supported by delivery partner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.masts.ac.uk\/\">Marine Alliance for Science and Technology for Scotland (MASTS)<\/a> will present recent research on seabirds, mammals, fish and socioeconomics and will be held virtually, which means there will be a wider programme of talks and topics ranging from unique Scottish reefs to seabird behaviour in the sky available to attend for free.<\/p>\n<p>These symposiums are organised as an opportunity to present ScotMER\u2019s findings to representatives from environmental organisations, renewables and fishing industries, regulatory and advisory bodies, and academics.<\/p>\n<h4>Blue Economy<\/h4>\n<p>ScotMER aligns with our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/news\/blue-economy-vision-launch\/\">Blue Economy vision<\/a>, which promotes the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods and jobs, while preserving the health of marine and coastal ecosystem. It supports the Scottish Government\u2019s climate change ambitions, by providing scientific evidence to promote sustainable developments of the offshore renewables industry.<\/p>\n<p>The three-day event will be delivered entirely online and is free of charge.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>It is open to all to attend, and we look forward to welcoming a diverse audience from academia, industry, non-governmental organisations and the public.<\/p>\n<p>To secure your place please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/hopin.com\/events\/5th-scotmer-symposium\">ScotMER Symposium registration page<\/a>.
