It was the Association\u2019s first conference outside Brussels and the most successful annual conference to date indicating the increasing strength as force for development of the European ocean energy sector. EU-OEA\u2019s 2013 conference marked Ocean Energy being firmly placed on the agenda for European Energy Policy.<\/p>\n<p>Scottish First Minister, Mr Alex Salmond, welcomed the Association\u2019s important work in raising the profile of wave and tidal energy technologies. Mr Salmond was pleased that the two-day conference was a success, having enabled speakers and delegates to explore in depth many of the key opportunities and challenges faced by this pioneering clean-energy industry. He also stated that \u201cThe conference shows that Europe is now focused on our clear, shared objective \u2013 to fully commercialise ocean energy by 2025\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The event was well attended and participation was at an astonishingly high level. The issues addressed were complex and reflected the very challenging environment in which this emerging industry is developing.
