{"id":12514,"date":"2021-03-24T13:06:49","date_gmt":"2021-03-24T13:06:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/?p=12514"},"modified":"2021-04-06T14:37:20","modified_gmt":"2021-04-06T13:37:20","slug":"sea-lice-reporting-to-be-mandatory-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/2021\/03\/24\/sea-lice-reporting-to-be-mandatory-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Sea lice reporting to be mandatory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mandatory sea lice reporting for aquaculture production businesses will come into force on 29 March 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The provisions of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.gov.uk\/ssi\/2020\/447\/article\/3\/made\">The Fish Farming Businesses (Reporting) (Scotland) Order 2020<\/a> will introduce a step change in sea lice reporting.<\/p>\n<p>While previous arrangements required reporting only where specific levels were met or exceeded (i.e. a weekly average of two adult female sea lice per fish), sea lice numbers will now need to be reported weekly, one week in arrears, to Scottish Ministers irrespective of the count. Where no count is conducted the reason must be given.<\/p>\n<p>The additional information reported will help the Fish Health Inspectorate monitor and enforce policy on sea lice management and help support the health and welfare of farmed fish. Reported data will be published to promote transparency.<\/p>\n<p>The order has been developed through the Farmed Fish Health Framework and following a review of sea lice policy in Scotland.
