{"id":13114,"date":"2021-12-10T15:21:40","date_gmt":"2021-12-10T15:21:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/?p=13114"},"modified":"2021-12-10T16:36:02","modified_gmt":"2021-12-10T16:36:02","slug":"trilateral-fisheries-negotiations-conclude","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/2021\/12\/10\/trilateral-fisheries-negotiations-conclude\/","title":{"rendered":"Trilateral fisheries negotiations conclude"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The trilateral fisheries negotiations between UK, the EU and Norway have concluded with quotas agreed for a number of shared stocks.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/publications\/european-union-norway-and-the-united-kingdom-fisheries-consultations-agreed-records-2022\/pages\/summary\/\">record<\/a> which was agreed on 10 December 2021 sets out Total Allowable Catch (TAC) positions and management measures for the following North Sea stocks: cod, haddock, saithe, whiting, plaice and herring.<\/p>\n<p>There are increases for haddock, herring and whiting in 2022. A decrease in saithe will present challenges throughout the year for Scottish fishermen in securing quota opportunities. A rollover TAC for cod has been agreed \u2013 a sensible yet rightly cautious management decision which represents a sustainable balance between scientific and socio-economic considerations taking into account the best and most up-to-date evidence and data.<\/p>\n<p>The Scottish Government negotiating team has played a full role in getting to this agreement, from scenario-planning and background analysis to deploying subject matter knowledge and expertise during the negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>The value to Scotland of the negotiation is \u00a397.02 million, which is an increase of \u00a39.23 million from last year. The TAC changes are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Whiting +25.0%<\/li>\n<li>Plaice: \u201312.4%<\/li>\n<li>Saithe: \u201324.5%<\/li>\n<li>Cod: Rollover<\/li>\n<li>Haddock: +5.0%<\/li>\n<li>Herring: +20.0%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Negotiations continue in the coming days with bilaterals with EU, Faroe and Norway.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The trilateral fisheries negotiations between UK, the EU and Norway have concluded with quotas agreed for a number of shared stocks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":605,"featured_media":13116,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[203,1761],"class_list":["post-13114","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-fisheries","tag-fisheries","tag-fisheries-negotiations"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
