Swimming depth of fish is an important element in determining the potential for interaction of fish with various aspects of marine renewables developments, for example the risk of collision with tidal turbines. However,\u00a0 although sea trout support important fisheries and may occur in many marine renewables development areas, there is limited information available on swimming depth. Following a tendering process, Icelandic company, Laxfiskar,\u00a0have been selected to analyse, extract and collate data on the swimming depth of sea trout at sea which was obtained in the course of studies on tagged sea trout in Icelandic waters. The study will give overall proportions of time spent at different depths, and insights into the factors determining swimming depth and a report will be submitted to Marine Scotland by the end of March 2014.<\/p><\/div>\n
