The Marine Strategy Framework Directive <\/a>(MSFD) <\/strong>seeks to establish a framework for community action in the field of marine environmental policy.<\/p>\n

This directive has called for the achievement of good environmental status (GES) by 2020 with an initial assessment of EU waters by 15 July 2012.<\/p>\n

The commission decision on criteria and methodological standards on GES <\/a>of marine waters was published on 1 September 2010.<\/p>\n

We foresee that the ecological monitoring work carried out at Stonehaven and Loch Ewe will play an important role in the fulfilment of the MSFD obligations in Scottish waters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
