MPV Minna at Fun on the Pier<\/p><\/div>\n

On Saturday 2nd<\/sup> August 2014, MPV Minna opened her Gangway to the general public in Ullapool for \u201cFun on the Pier\u201d (organised by the Rotary Club.)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Visitors came from far and wide – including Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Spain and New Zealand – as well as Scottish tourists, and locals from Ullapool itself. Local children provided a display of Highland Dancing on the pier amongst the stalls. During the afternoon, a Coast Guard helicopter carried out a demonstration of winching operations and someone swam across Loch Broom for charity.<\/p>\n

During the day, we welcomed around 300 visitors to tour the Wheelhouse and the Upper Deck onboard. There was great interest as to what service the ship provides, how we carry out inspections at sea and support for the Fisheries in general. Extra manpower was required at the foot of the Gangway, as our esteemed Seaman John Caldwell turned his hand to dog sitting. My favourite question was \u201cHow do you cope with being the only female onboard with all these men?\u201d to which the only answer was that they needed someone to keep them all in line! Thankfully the rain held off until we closed too.<\/p>\n
