{"id":3131,"date":"2015-04-20T11:02:06","date_gmt":"2015-04-20T11:02:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.scotland.gov.uk\/coastal-monitoring\/?p=3131"},"modified":"2016-08-17T14:31:43","modified_gmt":"2016-08-17T13:31:43","slug":"tracking-across-the-atlantic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/2015\/04\/20\/tracking-across-the-atlantic\/","title":{"rendered":"Tracking across the Atlantic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last year, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gov.scot\/Topics\/marine\/science\">Marine Scotland Science<\/a> collaborated with Jim Manning at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nefsc.noaa.gov\/\">NOAA North East Fisheries Science Centre<\/a>, USA to obtain some low cost trackers for ocean drifters that they released.<\/p>\n<p>Using the same tracking technology, an <a href=\"http:\/\/educationalpassages.com\/\">education outreach project in the USA<\/a>\u00a0has launched a number of unmanned sailboats, one of which is currently heading towards Scotland.
