Duration<\/strong>: 25 April -10 May 2018<\/p>\n

Fishing Gear<\/strong>: Anglerfish Trawl BT 195<\/p>\n

Objectives<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. To undertake a nationally co-ordinated demersal trawling survey of Anglerfish (Lophius piscatorius<\/em> and Lophius budegassa<\/em>) at Rockall Bank (ICES area VIb and Northwestern Shelf (ICES area VIa) inside the 1000m isobaths.<\/li>\n
  2. To additionally record and map distributions of Megrim (Lepidorhombus wiffiagonis<\/em>), Four-Spot Megrim (Lepidorhombus boscii<\/em>) Cod (Gadus morhua<\/em>), Blue Skate (Dipturus cf. flossada<\/em>) and Flapper Skate (Dipturus cf. intermedia<\/em>).<\/li>\n
  3. To collect biological data on Anglerfish species, Cod, Megrim, Four-Spot Megrim, Blue Skate and Flapper Skate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Procedures<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

    This trawl survey follows a set of protocols drawn up by an industry science survey planning group made up of Marine Scotland scientists and fishing representatives. These protocols share much in common with the sampling regimes described in Marine Scotland standing instructions for demersal trawl surveys.<\/p>\n

    The survey track and sampling locations will be delivered to the skipper prior to departure.\"Figure<\/a><\/p>\n

    Trawling<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

    One haul of 60 minutes duration will be made at each sampling station; trawling operations will occur in waters up to a maximum of 1000 m.\u00a0A bottom contact sensor will be mounted on the footrope.<\/p>\n
