{"id":9713,"date":"2019-05-13T13:00:23","date_gmt":"2019-05-13T12:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/?p=9713"},"modified":"2023-08-25T17:21:06","modified_gmt":"2023-08-25T16:21:06","slug":"marpamm-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/marine-scotland\/2019\/05\/13\/marpamm-project\/","title":{"rendered":"MarPAMM Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MRV <em>Alba na Mara <\/em>Programme<em><br \/>\n<\/em>Survey 0719A<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duration:\u00a0<\/strong>13-15 May 2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sampling Gear &amp; Equipment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 x marine mammal monitoring moorings to be deployed<\/li>\n<li>80 kg clump weight<\/li>\n<li>Vemco VR2AR acoustic release<\/li>\n<li>Loggerhead DSG-ST sound recorder<\/li>\n<li>Chelonia C-POD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Overview:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Survey 0719A aims to deploy three marine mammal and underwater noise monitoring moorings at sites in Scottish waters, within the INTERREG VA \u201ccross-border\u201d region. \u00a0Data are required to underpin the management of marine protected areas and protected species (marine mammals), to meet Marine Scotland\u2019s commitments under the MarPAMM project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Objectives:<br \/>\n<\/strong>To deploy three marine mammal monitoring moorings with acoustic releases. Indicative areas for these moorings are: N of Islay\/SW of Colonsay (55\u2070 56\u2019 N, 006\u2070 25\u2019 W), SW of Tiree (56\u2070 26\u2019 N, 007\u2070 06\u2019 W), and E of Mingulay (56\u2070 48\u2019 N, 007\u2070 36\u2019 W) \u2013 these locations will be refined in due course.
