We&#8217;ve covered lots of ground, with successes right across our five action plan commitments. You can read about these <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/scotgovopen\/status\/1400029429259128834?s=20\">in the twitter thread.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Looking to the future<\/h2>\n<p>Our thoughts have now turned to our next National Action Plan. We&#8217;re keen to build on the successes of our previous plans, and we also recognise that it&#8217;s important for this plan to support Scotland&#8217;s recovery and renewal from Covid. And as always, it&#8217;s important to us that the action plan reflects the priorities of the public.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve therefore reviewed recent public engagement exercises to understand what\u2019s important to people in Scotland as we emerge from the public health emergency of the last year. Using this evidence, alongside the Scottish Government\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/programme-for-government\/\"><u>Renewal<\/u><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/publications\/priorities-government-statement-26-2021\/\"><u>priorities<\/u><\/a>, we\u2019ve identified five themes which appeared repeatedly . We think these may form the main themes of our next Open Government Action Plan.<\/p>\n<p>Our themes are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participation in decision making<\/li>\n<li>Data and technology<\/li>\n<li>Financial Transparency<\/li>\n<li>Health and Social Care<\/li>\n<li>Climate Change<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can read more about the themes below.<\/p>\n<h2>Get involved<\/h2>\n<p>On Monday (7th June), we&#8217;ll be launching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ideas.gov.scot\/\">an ideas challenge<\/a>. This is a great opportunity to get involved in our Action Plan creation right at the start. Any specific services?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>What do people need in order to understand this, and how can government communicate better?<\/li>\n<li>What could help people \u2018follow the money\u2019 for increased investment in the NHS, social care and a new National Care Service?<\/li>\n<li>How can we most inclusively develop approaches to financial issues that people have told us are important to them?\n<ul>\n<li>For example, minimising tax evasion and avoidance; incentivising good employment practices via the tax system; intersectional budget analysis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Health and Social Care<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>There are big changes planned for Health and Social Care over the next few years. How can we make it easier for people to understand and get involved in changes?<\/li>\n<li>How can we best engage with peoples\u2019 priorities for the new National Care Service?<\/li>\n<li>How can we best engage with peoples\u2019 priorities around the use of apps for people to access health services?<\/li>\n<li>How can we best engage with peoples\u2019 priorities around the Women\u2019s Health Plan, to improve care and reduce health inequalities for women and girls?<\/li>\n<li>What do people need in order to understand these changes?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Climate Change<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>How can we enable and support people to understand and get involved in climate change action?<\/li>\n<li>What do people need in order to understand the issue, and to engage where there are opportunities to do so?<\/li>\n<li>How can we most inclusively engage people in the process of becoming a Net Zero nation?<\/li>\n<li>Where do people want more or different opportunities for engagement and shaping decision making on climate change?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Over on our Twitter this week, we&#8217;ve been sharing some of the highlights of what we delivered during our 2nd Open Government Action Plan.
