The Children\u2019s Rights Unit<\/a> is developing a new resource for children and young people to help them understand how they access, realise, and claim their rights when they feel they are not being respected.<\/p>\n

The purpose of this Pathways Resource <\/em>is to inform children and young people and support their understanding of how to raise a concern, how to make a complaint, and who the adults are in their lives that can support them to do this.<\/p>\n

Given that the resource is for children and young people it is important that they are involved in its design to make sure it appeals to them, is accessible, and easy to understand and navigate.<\/p>\n

We have joined up with Barnardo\u2019s Scotland to work together with children and young people to explore the best way to communicate these important messages and consider factors such as the language, tone, and visual presentation including colours and the use of images.<\/p>\n

Conversations will consider and build on what we learned through our engagement with children and young people at Rights Right Now!<\/a> around how key messages can be promoted, and support reflection around the thoughts and feelings of those using the resource.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important to consider the format and platforms to use to ensure the right fit e.g. social media content, the use of hashtags, and physical resources such as posters. Resources must provide a clear message; make information accessible for everyone; feel authentic, informative and not boring; and ensure the message doesn\u2019t feel \u2018dumbed-down\u201d.<\/p>\n

Rights Right Now! Young People\u2019s Group<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Barnardo\u2019s will engage with Articulate Cultural Trust to deliver a range of creative workshops and interactive approaches to capture the views of a diverse range of children and young people to support the development of the Pathways Resource<\/em>.
