Led by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kitterati\">Kit Collingwood<\/a>, it sought to bring together<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>UK policymakers, service designers, digital professionals and cross-sector experts to talk openly and creatively about making government in the UK more effective by working together.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Some handy info:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/oneteamgov.uk\/\">Oneteamgov<\/a> site, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OneTeamGov\">@oneteamgov<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/oneteamgov\">#oneteamgov<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@kcollingwood\/what-is-one-team-government-962089d6375f\">What is One Team Government<\/a>\u00a0by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kitterati\">Kit Collingwood<\/a><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/maltbyps\">Paul Maltby<\/a> talked about it <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@maltbyps\/one-team-government-a-short-guide-to-policy-for-government-digital-professionals-c3cc1e421406\">on Medium<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It followed <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jereeve\">James Reeve&#8217;s<\/a><\/span> blog post about <a href=\"https:\/\/sfadigital.blog.gov.uk\/2017\/03\/24\/dont-bring-policy-and-delivery-closer-together-make-them-the-same-thing\/\">making policy and delivery the same thing<\/a>, which was reminiscent of a speech by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MTBracken\">Mike Bracken<\/a> in 2014 on<a href=\"http:\/\/mikebracken.com\/blog\/on-policy-and-delivery\/\"> policy and delivery<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I just made it in time to hear the pitches for sessions (if you haven&#8217;t experienced \u00a0an unconference, let <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ClareMoriarty\">Clare Moriarty<\/a> extol <a href=\"https:\/\/civilservice.blog.gov.uk\/2017\/03\/09\/the-joys-of-unconferencing\/\">the joys<\/a> ). Unlike some, I relish the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/postenterprise\/status\/880702349907546112\">student union bar<\/a> feel as a relief from the passive experience of most conferences.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en-gb\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Legged it off the Flying Scotsman to just make it for pitches at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/OneTeamGov?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#OneTeamGov<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/cw5qQGJJKJ\">pic.twitter.com\/cw5qQGJJKJ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Christian Storstein (@crunchity) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/crunchity\/status\/880356324109889536?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">29 June 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finding the ones you want to attend is hard, but luckily scribes were on hand to feedback from all the other sessions <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/oneteamgov\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">http:\/\/bit.ly\/oneteamgov<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as they happen (which is handy if you are intending to skip out from one and head along to another). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sessions I went along to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hearing about the do&#8217;s and don&#8217;t&#8217;s of service design <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">how to work collaboratively across the virtual and physical barriers of government departments<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the real struggles and challenges policymakers face\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">helping Paul Maltby put some flesh on the bones of his <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@maltbyps\/prototyping-a-one-team-government-manifesto-1596d99d3f57\">prototype manifesto.<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some pics from the day:<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"One Team Gov\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/oneteamgov\/albums\/72157683297914481\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4179\/35608565525_ca3d76bf60_z.jpg\" alt=\"One Team Gov\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 640px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 640\/427;\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I would like to have seen more policymakers there to balance out the amount of digital and service design types. And one of the drawbacks of open, collaborative ways of working mean that your teammates can find photos of you on Twitter using #oneteamgov and rib you mercilessly on <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/digital-engagement\/2016\/01\/28\/slacking\/\">Slack<\/a> in real time. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I have signed up to join the #oneteamgov community, and encourage other like-minded gov and public sector colleagues to do the same. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Over 150 people have signed up to the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/oneteamgov?src=hash\">#oneteamgov<\/a> community.
