This was organised in advance of the Architecture and Design Scotland\u2019s Place Challenge (Arbroath) which is being held this week to identify the issues challenging the role of town centres as sustainable places.<\/p>\n<p>The event was held at the Lighthouse, Glasgow, and attracted a mixture of approx. 20 local authority planners.<\/p>\n<p>To help delegates warm up their confidence in drawing and visualising places, Susie Stirling (Architecture and Place) ran a \u2018starter\u2019 session<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/planning-architecture\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/10\/IMG_3494.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1259 size-large lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/planning-architecture\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/10\/IMG_3494-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_3494\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/planning-architecture\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/10\/IMG_3494-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/planning-architecture\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/10\/IMG_3494-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/planning-architecture\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/10\/IMG_3494.jpg 1334w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1024px; The \u2018power of the pen\u2019 was also used to change and improve a street \u2013 without using any words.
