{"id":2806,"date":"2019-05-08T17:11:01","date_gmt":"2019-05-08T16:11:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/planning-architecture\/?p=2806"},"modified":"2019-05-09T15:18:45","modified_gmt":"2019-05-09T14:18:45","slug":"community-led-design-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/planning-architecture\/2019\/05\/08\/community-led-design-funding\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Led Design Funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Community-Led Design<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Since 2011-12, the Scottish Government has offered grant funding to support participative design events, allowing communities to be involved in the design of changes and improvements to their place.<\/p>\n<p>Community-led design processes allow local people to come together to develop plans and designs relating to their area. More information <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/planning-architecture\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2019\/05\/Community-Led-Design-Investing-in-Communities-Fund-002-PDF-1.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Design processes can take many forms, from intensive working over a few days to projects that adopt a slower pace over a longer timescale. Events where communities work intensively with a professional design team over a number of days, (sometimes known as charrettes) are eligible for support and the fund is also open to supporting other types of community-led design and capacity-building processes.<\/p>\n<p>Funding in previous years has been provided through the Charrette Mainstreaming Programme and the Making Places Initiative. For 2019-20, funding for community-led design can now be accessed through the Scottish Government\u2019s Investing in Communities fund, part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/policies\/community-empowerment\/empowering-communities-fund\/\">Empowering Communities Programme.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/planning-architecture\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2019\/05\/Community-Led-Design-Investing-in-Communities-Fund-002-PDF-1.pdf\">Investing in Communities Fund is a new streamlined communities fund<\/a> that builds on the learning from previous Scottish Government community funds. The fund aims to promote a more responsive, community-led place-based approach. One that is flexible and can adapt to existing and emerging community issues, circumstances and priorities; and in a way that encourages more effective strategic neighbourhood\/place-based partnership working in a holistic way. The fund is open to community groups only.<\/p>\n<p>The fund brings together a staged funding approach to enable communities to develop funding proposals from:<br \/>\n\u2022 capacity building stage \u2013 to strengthen communities;<br \/>\n\u2022 design stage \u2013 to identify local priorities; and through to<br \/>\n\u2022 delivery stage \u2013 to address what is most important to the community.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Applications for Community Led Design funding should be made through the Investing in Communities Fund.
