Model Sustainability Test examples on the Sustainable Procurement Tools

Our latest update to the Sustainable Procurement Tools!
In response to user feedback we continue to develop our Sustainable Procurement Tools. Adding new products to complement the existing materials. The latest addition is a number of best practice completed sustainability tests. These tests will help buyers undertake the sustainability test for similar commodities.
Just like the case studies added to the website earlier this year. The completed sustainability tests have been developed with the input of public sector colleagues, and we thank you for your involvement.
About the completed sustainability tests
There are four completed examples covering:
- laboratories: including equipment, consumables and maintenance
- facilities management
- vehicle maintenance and repair
- tyres
Registered users can access the examples by logging in and navigating to the Library. These examples can be used for reference, or as the basis for completing the sustainability test for similar commodities.
If using one of the examples, the user should amend it accordingly to reflect their local circumstances. With respect to what they are buying, their organisational strategies or plans or specific organisational objectives.
Additional background information in the form of resource documents have been developed for each example to support those users who would like a ‘deeper dive’ into the Sustainability Test issues. The resource documents are available from the Case Studies and other resources page.
If you have any examples of prioritisation tools or sustainability tests that you would be happy to share with other users of the website. You can do this via the ‘Suggest for Library’ facility.
For help to register and login to the website, a user guide and short video are available from the home page of the website.
Further sources of support
This new product complements the existing materials already available on the website, including the Climate Literacy eLearning. By end of June 2022, over 790 users across public bodies in Scotland had completed it. Giving them confidence to minimise risks and maximise opportunities associated with Climate Change.
Our Sustainable Procurement Tools are designed to help public sector organisations identify, and address how to optimise the economic, social and environmental outcomes of their procurement activity.
With 2155 registered users, from 409 organisations. We are delighted that 166 Scottish public bodies have registered. As well as public and private organisations in other parts of the UK and further afield have also registered.
