New Biodiversity guidance – Sustainable Procurement Tools

Biodiversity Guidance

Updated Biodiversity guidance is now live on the Sustainable Procurement Tools website. This guidance relates to the procurement of products, services, or works, that have potential negative impacts on biodiversity or where there are opportunities to enhance biodiversity.

This guidance has been updated with the help of subject matter experts from NatureScot, Scottish Environment LINK, Scottish Wildlife Trust, and the Scottish Government Environment Strategy and Governance Unit, and we thank them for all their help.

It complements other environment related guidance – such as climate change, materials, waste, biosecurity and hazardous materials and emissions.

This resource provides relevant procurement guidance, aligned with the Procurement Journey. It also contains an Annex of example contract clauses and key performance indicators.

New, more user-friendly formatting means users can navigate easily between sections and can download the full guide into a Word document. This can be printed and shared with relevant stakeholders.

The Biodiversity guidance is included on the Guidance section of the Sustainable Procurement Tools website, which can be accessed by registered and unregistered users of the Tools.

Case Study – Heat in Buildings Scotland National Scheme

We have also added a new case study on the Scottish Government’s Heat in Buildings National Scheme. The case study complements the video added in May about this scheme. The new case study and video are included on the Case Studies section of the website, which can be accessed by registered and unregistered users of the Tools.
