Renfrewshire Council – Embedding Climate and Sustainable Procurement in the Housing-led Regeneration and Renewal Programme.

The latest addition to the Sustainable Procurement Tools website is a case study detailing how Renfrewshire Council is embedding climate and circular economy considerations into procurement requirements for the Housing-led Regeneration and Renewal Programme.

As the £100 million ten-year Housing-led Regeneration and Renewal Programme is aimed at delivering modern, high quality, energy-efficient and affordable council housing throughout Renfrewshire it was vital that the procurement process reflected this sustainable commitment.

The case study highlights how consultancy support and the implementation of climate requirements through a demolition project, under the wider programme, formed the basis for establishing a progressive sustainable procurement approach.  Lessons learned throughout the process highlighted the need to develop knowledge and experience in addressing climate outcomes.

Find out more about Renfrewshire Council’s approach on the Case Studies section of the Sustainable Procurement Tools website.

The case study shares lessons learned. If you are a public body and would like to share an example of how your organisation addressed sustainability matters in a procurement exercise, please email  scottishprocurement@gov.scot.
