Business Stream, the sole supplier on the Scottish Government Water and Waste Water Billing Services Framework, are making a big impact beyond water services and delivering real social and environmental value to communities across Scotland.

Empowering young people and communities

Through their community benefits programme, they are helping to prepare young people for work and supporting disadvantaged groups through the delivery of:

• four masterclasses to 150 high school students
• mentoring and paid internships for eight young people
• school sponsorship to deliver sustainability-focused education, earning students an SCQF qualification
• skills training for 60 students and collaboration with Scotland’s Towns Partnership to promote sustainable communities

Driving environmental efficiencies

Through doubling its Water Efficiency Fund to £100,000, Business Stream are also supporting 16 projects across Scotland, from water audits at National Museums Scotland to efficiency upgrades in NHS facilities and schools.

As well as identifying significant water reduction opportunities, their Intelligent Water Management solution supports public sector organisations in understanding their water use, the carbon impact of their consumption and how to identify water efficiency savings.

Business Stream’s success demonstrates the positive impact suppliers can have through going beyond delivering core services to deliver meaningful social and environmental benefits.

Through embedding social value into their operations, suppliers don’t just meet contractual obligations – they actively contribute to sustainable development goals.
