transcript, Nick Ford:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Good morning and welcome to my autumn vlog for 2025.<\/p>\n<p>I am pleased to share some of the achievements we have seen over the past few months, as well as taking a look at what we have coming up.<\/p>\n<p>On the 30<sup>th<\/sup> of September, we held the first meeting of the newly re-defined Public Procurement Group. We welcomed several new members to the table, and we\u2019re really looking forward to working closely to align with the Public Procurement Strategy for Scotland and the programme of Public Service Reform that is currently underway. Ivan McKee, Minister for Public Finance, also joined the group to see us settle in and really look for us to drive forward Public Procurement in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>We are now one year into the SME and Third Sector Action Plan and our working group has been busy engaging with stakeholders and exploring how we can reduce barriers for small organisations in public procurement. We\u2019ve published an annual update, which demonstrates the impact of working collaboratively with stakeholders across the public sector and you can access this through our Scottish Procurement and Property blog.<\/p>\n<p>In August, the Care Reform (Scotland) Act 2025 received royal assent. The reform brings several new requirements for procurement, and we have engaged with both the procurement community and seldom-heard voices to inform opportunities to shape how we move forward. Work to support the regulations is already underway.<\/p>\n<p>Our second supplier survey results were released in September. The feedback shows strong alignment with the Economy and Fair Work Committee\u2019s recommendations from earlier in the year, and we are already working to respond. We will ensure continuous improvement plans are in place to improve our opportunities and approaches, based on supplier feedback.<\/p>\n<p>Now on to some Scottish procurement framework updates. I am really pleased to announce that we have extended the Supported Business Dynamic Purchasing System for another two years, taking us through to September 2027 and we now have a total of 22 suppliers on the framework.<\/p>\n<p>Our ICT team have extended the Internet of Things Dynamic Purchasing System for a further one year we\u2019re working closely with suppliers to showcase successful case studies from recent contract awards.<\/p>\n<p>And our Managed Print Solutions framework has been extended to August 26, giving the Scottish public sector continued access to multi-functional devices and managed print services.<\/p>\n<p>In October, we will be launching our public consultation on amending the Procurement Reform (Scotland) Act\u2019s thresholds. The consultation will give respondents the options for how the goods, services and works thresholds can be increased, as well as looking at options on decreasing the community benefits threshold. The consultation will stay open long enough to ensure everyone has a chance to share their views and we\u2019ll be providing an update to the Economy and Fair Work Committee on progress in line with recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>We have Procurex Scotland and the Scottish Government\u2019s annual conference taking place on the 28th of October at the SEC centre in Glasgow. This year marks the 20<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of our conference, and the agenda is already looking great with some interesting panel sessions lined up.<\/p>\n<p>And finally, I am delighted to highlight the Accelerated National Innovation Adoption ANIA pathway. Scotland Innovates has helped to provide a clear and accessible front door for businesses, clinicians and academics to bring forward ideas that can transform patient care.<\/p>\n<p>The latest innovative technology to flow through Scotland Innovates into ANIA is Ambulatory Electrocardiogram (ECG) Patch Monitors. Compact, wireless and water-resistant devices that are used to detect cardiac rhythm anomalies over extended periods of time.<\/p>\n<p>Scottish Government is investing \u00a31.9 million between 2026 and 28 to move around 8000 stroke patients per year onto these ECG patches. This is projected to be four times more effective at identifying issues than existing technology. It will reduce the time to diagnosis and treatment from up to 24 months on the current pathway, to just three weeks. A brilliant example of how the programme is making a difference to people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s all for now.
