It is the first of its kind in the UK and will provide affordable and low-carbon heat to the local Stirling community.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy First Minister John Swinney also announced the Scottish Government&#8217;s \u00a3300,000 investment in Climate Ready Classrooms &#8211; a one-day carbon literacy training course,<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> which helps young people aged 14-17 develop their understanding of climate change<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">, its causes and potential impacts.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We&#39;re investing \u00a3300,000 in Climate Ready Classrooms &#8211; a 1-day carbon literacy training course developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KSBScotland?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@KSBScotland<\/a> and accredited by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Carbon_Literacy?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Carbon_Literacy<\/a>, which helps young people aged 14-17 develop their understanding of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ClimateChange?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ClimateChange<\/a>, its causes and potential impacts. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ATr6k1wfTM\">pic.twitter.com\/ATr6k1wfTM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Scottish Government (@scotgov) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/scotgov\/status\/1159041491731398656?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 7, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Ad415a86038424f5d92d66dd6e7d23ded84\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/news\/action-to-address-climate-emergency\/\">Read more about the climate change travelling cabinet<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"Ad415a86038424f5d92d66dd6e7d23ded84\">European Green Infrastructure Funding<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Environment Secretary Roseanna Cunningham announced \u00a38 million of European Green Infrastructure funding to support sustainability and low carbon projects.<\/p>\n<p>The Scottish Natural Heritages\u2019 new \u00a38 million will support seven major projects in cities and towns across the central belt, aiming to tackle high unemployment and poor health and mitigate the impacts of climate change through creating and improving green spaces in urban communities.<\/p>\n<h3>Timber Transport Funding<\/h3>\n<p>Rural Economy Secretary Fergus Ewing announced \u00a36.7 million of Strategic Timber Transport Funding Awards for 2019.<\/p>\n<h3>Whisky and salmon statistics<\/h3>\n<p>Rural Economy Secretary Fergus Ewing announced the latest whisky and salmon statistics, which showed:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the first two quarters (Jan-Jun) of 2019, UK exports of Scotch whisky were valued at \u00a32.2 billion, up 10.8% (\u00a3214 million) compared to the same period last year (Q1-Q2 2018)<\/li>\n<li>In the second quarter (Apr-Jun) of 2019, UK exports of Scotch whisky were valued at \u00a31.1 billion, up 3.2% (\u00a334 million) compared to the same period last year (Q2 2018)<\/li>\n<li>In Q1-Q2, the European Union remained the single largest regional export markets by value (\u00a3637 million or 29% of total overseas Scotch whisky exports), and experienced an increase of \u00a336 million or 6.1% compared to Q1-Q2 2018<\/li>\n<li>In Q2, North America was the single largest regional export markets at \u00a3311 million followed by Asia &amp; Oceania (\u00a3287 million) and the European Union (\u00a3274 million)<\/li>\n<li>By country, the USA remains the biggest market by value.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"Ad415a86038424f5d92d66dd6e7d23ded85\"><strong>Salmon<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>In the first six months (Jan-June) of 2019, Atlantic salmon<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> exports from the UK were valued at around \u00a3319 million (47,339 tonnes), an increase of 25% (\u00a363 million) compared to the same period last year. This increase is primarily due to rises in exports to the EU and the USA.<\/li>\n<li>Over the past 5 years, Q1-Q2 2019 is second only to the same period in 2017- when salmon exports reached \u00a3347 million ( 2017 being a record year overall for Salmon exports).<\/li>\n<li>The EU remains the largest single regional market, importing almost 49% of the UK\u2019s salmon exports by value in Q1-Q2 2019, or around \u00a3156 million worth.
