Scotland does not want to leave the EU but there is a strong risk that we may end up leaving without a deal in place on 31st October 2019. <\/p>\n

While the Scottish Government is doing as much as it can to mitigate the impact of leaving the EU, we cannot mitigate for every impact.<\/p>\n

Leaving the EU will mean things we currently take for granted, or which we agreed to as part of a Member State, will no longer stand.<\/p>\n

This note sets out what you need to do what you need to do to make sure your family pet can travel to the EU after Brexit.<\/p>\n

Issue<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pet travel requirements will change depending on our future relationship with the EU on exit day.<\/p>\n

A current EU pet passport issued in the UK will not be valid for travel to the EU.<\/p>\n

Action<\/strong><\/p>\n

To make sure your family pet can travel from the UK to the EU after Brexit, you need to take the following steps:<\/p>\n

\u2022\tVisit your vet 4 months before travelling
\n\u2022\tMicrochip your pet
\n\u2022\tGet a rabies vaccination and blood test 30 days later
\n\u2022\tWait 3 calendar months after a successful blood test before travel
\n\u2022\tGet an animal health certificate no more than 10 days before travel<\/p>\n
