\"\"As Scotland\u2019s Climate Week draws to a close for another year, I want to take this opportunity to give my thanks to the many businesses, organisations and communities who have engaged so fantastically in our net zero mission and the collective action we must all take to ensure we end our contribution to climate change in a just and fair way.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>From the first Climate Festival events<\/a> to announcing plans for a new Just Transition Commission<\/a> and the launch of our new Public Engagement Strategy<\/a>, we are making sure that everyone is part of what will be a transformational journey.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>I was pleased to launch the Strategy at Keep Scotland Beautiful\u2019s Climate Emergency webinar on Thursday, an event which gave people an opportunity to learn about climate change and what we\u2019re doing to combat it.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s lots we can all do \u2013 large and small \u2013 as individuals to help tackle climate change. I, together with many of my Ministerial colleagues, took the opportunity of Climate Week to join the COP26 Call to Action initiative, pledging to make changes to our everyday lives to help tackle climate change. You can find more information about pledging here<\/a>. I\u2019d encourage everyone to take part.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>Climate Week 2021 coming to an end doesn\u2019t mean the discussion, engagement or action on tackling climate change will. <\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0The <\/em>Climate Fringe<\/em><\/a> is now underway, with many events and something for everyone to engage in our climate journey. <\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>And with just six weeks to go until COP26 arrives in Scotland, you\u2019ll hear much more about climate change and the action we must all \u2013 governments, businesses, communities and individuals \u2013 take to protect our society and our planet.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>I am determined to make sure the conference reaches out far beyond the negotiations in Glasgow. It must reach every community and deliver a lasting legacy that accelerates our emissions reduction whilst making absolutely sure we do that in a way that\u2019s fair and leaves no-one behind.<\/em><\/p>\n
