Pig producers affected by the temporary closure of the abattoir at Brechin last year, and subsequent suspension of its China export licence, can now apply for financial support.<\/p>\n

Supported by more than \u00a3680,000, the Extended Pig Producers\u2019 Hardship Support Scheme is set to pay pig producers \u00a37.50 per pig supplied to Quality Pig Processors (QPP) plant at Brechin, between 1 April and 30 September 2021.<\/p>\n

Applications open today and close on 20 February 2022.<\/p>\n

Rural Affairs Secretary Mairi Gougeon said:<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very pleased to provide much-needed support to our pig industry during challenging times, once again. By extending the Pig Producers\u2019 Hardship Support Scheme, we are making over \u00a3680,000 available to affected pig farmers that have incurred financial losses through no fault of their own.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage all eligible pig producers to submit their applications, to benefit from this additional funding.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u00a3715,000 Pig Producers\u2019 Hardship Support Scheme made available in August 2021 delivered essential funding to eligible pig producers who supplied the QPP between 8 February and 31 March 2021.<\/p>\n

Eligible pig producers should send the completed and signed application together with the supporting evidence via email to the Scottish Government at\u00a0pigproducers.support@gov.scot<\/a><\/p>\n
