{"id":525,"date":"2018-11-27T08:26:02","date_gmt":"2018-11-27T08:26:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/rural-environment\/?p=525"},"modified":"2018-11-27T08:26:02","modified_gmt":"2018-11-27T08:26:02","slug":"in-the-news-rec-committee-report-on-salmon-farming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/rural-environment\/2018\/11\/27\/in-the-news-rec-committee-report-on-salmon-farming\/","title":{"rendered":"In the news: REC Committee report on salmon farming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Tue 27 Nov the Scottish Parliament&#8217;s Rural Economy and Connectivity Committee published its <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalpublications.parliament.scot\/Committees\/Report\/REC\/2018\/11\/27\/Salmon-farming-in-Scotland\">report on Salmon Farming in Scotland<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what <strong>Rural Economy Secretary Fergus Ewing<\/strong> had to say about it:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile we will carefully consider the committee\u2019s recommendations, a number of sustainability issues identified in its report are already being addressed through the Fish Health Framework working groups and the new wild and farmed salmon interactions working group.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAquaculture must be delivered and developed sustainably, with appropriate regulatory frameworks that minimise and address environmental impacts.
